The Silent Crisis- Fundraising dinner for the people of Iraq
Saturday the 13th of June 2015 saw the first event held by the Australian Iraqi Muslim Society.
This important event “The Silent Crisis” was a fundraising dinner for the people of Iraq took place on to raise funds to support the countless number of Iraqis currently suffering at the hands of multiple violent groups and militias.
The support we received was both incredible and heart warming. The Stars Palace Reception in Fairfield was packed with supporters of our cause. Individuals and Representatives from different organisations were there in force to show their support, from Human Appeal International – Australia, ANIC, Dr Ibrahim Abu Mohammed – Grand Mufti of Australia, Sheikh Omar El-Banna, and many other mashayekh, VIPs and organisations from Sydney and from other cities including Melbourne and Adelaide.
The community’s support and empathy with their brothers and sisters in Iraq was palbable. As brother Ahmed Awf and Dr Mohammad Al Naqeeb helped raise more than $450,000 alhumduliallah.
