Anas Altikiri Talk: Post-Maliki Iraq; the Probables and the Impossibles

On Friday the 6th of November. The Australian Iraqi Muslim Society hosted a talk by Dr Anas Altikriti about the current political state in Iraq post Maliki. It was a very engaging and informative talk attended by almost 100 people at the Bankstown Seniors Hall.

Dr Anas explained the deep flaws in establishing the Iraqi constitution after the 2003 invasion that was set up to fail. He described the deep corruption that has been endemic in Iraq, one of the wealthiest countries in the world in terms of natural resources.

Dr Anas also went on to illustrate the problematic sectarian/ethnic political division and breakdown in a country that historically did not identify along such warped lines.

After the talk and the Q&A session, dinner was served, and the community engaged in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere of further discussions and debates.

The Australian Iraqi Muslim Society committee would like to thank the brothers at AIM for lending us Dr Anas during his visit to Sydney to speak at the AIM conference on Saturday

Dr Anas Altikriti is the CEO and Founder of The Cordoba Foundation, a UK-based independent Think Tank which examines and comments on the relationship between the Muslim World and the West
